emotions– UGA Exit Show 2019
Initial inquiry
Not many people talk about what is going on inside of them because they are either scared of emotions, or “don’t have the time” to deal with them, therefore creating isolation and loneliness.
With this in mind, I asked the question: How could design help people move from isolation towards a space where they are talking openly about what they feel?
People have walls up against emotion, so what is the best way to get inside of those walls and begin taking them down?
Because of the goal of communication, I decided to keep the entire project type-based in creating any imagery, or supplemental text.
Another decision I made was to use letterpress printing for the entire project to get the body engaged in the making and to bring vague emotions into the physical reality.
Additionally, I created posters and postcards for promotion to put up around the school to get people curious and open to new thoughts about emotions.
